Philippians 4:12-13 NIV I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. (emphasis mine)
In other words, God is enough for me to be content, I would have every reason to be discontented but God provides all that I need.
We should all feel comforted knowing that no matter what we’re going through, God is enough. But there are times we forget that God is enough and has already provided enough and when it looks like we are sinking under the pressures of a broken world and going “down for the count” but God is there to provide everything that we need for an abundant life
Ephesians 2:4-5 NLT But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved! (emphasis mine)
Romans 5:6-8 NLT When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (emphasis mine)
Think of the time your faith has been tried by circumstances that knocked you off your feet. It is those moments that “but God” means everything to you.
When we become discontented and wonder if He really is enough and say but God I am not content in this situation, God has provided reminders in Scripture that He is enough and even though things are tough “but God” always comes through.

Isaiah 26:3 NLT You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!
Hebrews 13:5 NLT on’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.”
Matthew 11:28-30 NLT Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.”

And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things? “Look at the lilies and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers all over the world, but your Father already knows your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and he will give you everything you need.
Matthew 6:19-21 NLT “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
