God's Promise of Eternal Life |

God, Who cannot lie, promises eternal life! 1 John 2:24-25 (NLT) So you must remain faithful to what you have been taught from the beginning. If you do, you will remain in fellowship with the Son and with the Father. 25 And in this fellowship we enjoy the eternal life he promised us. Titus 1:2 (NLT) This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God—who does not lie—promised them before the world began. Who did He make this promise to? Eternal life is promised to all who believe in Jesus and believe that God raised Him from the dead. If you don’t believe that, then the promise of eternal life is not for you, however, it can be. Later in this writing, I’ll share how later. John 3:36 (NLT) And anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life. Anyone who doesn’t obey the Son will never experience eternal life but remains under God’s angry judgment.” How does He know who believes? Romans 10:9 (NLT)9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. What is Eternal Life? Eternal life is just not living forever; it is living forever in the Presence of God Almighty. This from Dictionary.com and I think it’s a good one. “eternal life in the Bible This expression occurs in the Old Testament only in Dan. 12:2 (R.V., "everlasting life"). It occurs frequently in the New Testament (Matt. 7:14; 18:8, 9; Luke 10:28; comp. 18:18). It comprises the whole future of the redeemed (Luke 16:9), and is opposed to "eternal punishment" (Matt. 19:29; 25:46). It is the final reward and glory into which the children of God enter (1 Tim. 6:12, 19; Rom. 6:22; Gal. 6:8; 1 Tim. 1:16; Rom. 5:21); their Sabbath of rest (Heb. 4:9; comp. 12:22). The newness of life which the believer derives from Christ (Rom. 6:4) is the very essence of salvation, and hence the life of glory or the eternal life must also be theirs (Rom. 6:8; 2 Tim. 2:11, 12; Rom. 5:17, 21; 8:30; Eph. 2:5, 6). It is the "gift of God in Jesus Christ our Lord" (Rom. 6:23). The life the faithful have here on earth (John 3:36; 5:24; 6:47, 53-58) is inseparably connected with the eternal life beyond, the endless life of the future, the happy future of the saints in heaven (Matt. 19:16, 29; 25:46)”.- Easton's 1897 Bible Dictionary Everlasting life, that is, life with no end in the awesome Presence of God, might be an even better way of explaining it. One thing I can and need to tell you is that eternal life is forever; it can never be lost. John 17:1-3 (NLT) 1 After saying all these things, Jesus looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son so he can give glory back to you. 2 For you have given him authority over everyone. He gives eternal life to each one you have given him. 3 And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. Eternal Life is a Gift God promises eternal life. There’s nothing you can do to earn it. God gives it as a gift by His grace. You can have His gift by not trusting in your own righteousness but by trusting in the righteousness of the one person who never sinned, Jesus Christ, God’s perfect substitute for our sin. Romans 3:23-26 (NLT) 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. 25 For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood… 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NLT) For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. |

God’s Promises of Eternal Life
Here are some of God’s promises of eternal life, take hold of them, memorize them and remember that eternal means eternal. You didn’t earn it, you didn’t give it to yourself as a gift; it’s a gift from God. If He gave it to you, only He can take it away, and He has promised that He will never do that. Remember God is not a man that He should lie so when He makes a promise He keeps it. John 3:16 (NLT)16 “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. Romans 6:23 (NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Matthew 25:46 (NLT) “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.” John 5:24 (NLT) “I tell you the truth, those who listen to my message and believe in God who sent me have eternal life. They will never be condemned for their sins, but they have already passed from death into life. Romans 2:6-7 (NLT) 6 He will judge everyone according to what they have done. 7 He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. Revelation 21:3-4 (NLT) 3 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” 1 John 2:17 (NLT) And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. John 10:28-30 (NLT) 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand. 30 The Father and I are one. “The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 5:13 (NLT) I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. John 4:14 (NLT) But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” Galatians 6:8 (NLT) Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. Romans 5:21 (NLT) So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God’s wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Philippians 1:6 (NLT) And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. Are These Promises for You? Remember I said, at the beginning of this post, God’s promise(s) of eternal life are for those who really believe in Jesus and His resurrection from the dead. If you didn’t believe that then the promise is not for you. But rejoice, God wants them to apply to you; and He has already designed the process for you to apply them. In fact, He sent His Son Jesus to the earth to take the punishment due you for your sin. They can apply to you. We cannot fix ourselves; all you have to do is admit that you are a sinner and acknowledge that you need a savior. Here’s how you do that; Romans 10:9 (NKJV) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Pray this prayer in all sincerity. Don’t just say it if you don’t really mean it, because if you do you will just be speaking words. But if you are tired of trying to change things in your own power, and are ready to turn your life over to the One who can change things pray; “God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!” If you truly understand and believe what you just prayed then these promises of eternal life apply to you. So do all the other promises that God has made to believers.
