Deuteronomy 32:44-47 (ESV) 44 Moses came and recited all the words of this song in the hearing of the people, he and Joshua the son of Nun.45 And when Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel,46 he said to them, “Take to heart all the words by which I am warning you today, that you may command them to your children, that they may be careful to do all the words of this law.47 For it is no empty word for you, but your very life, and by this word you shall live long in the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess.” (emphasis mine)
What Can The Word Of God Do For You?
• Save you.
James 1:21 (ESV) 21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
• Help you grow in wisdom.
Psalm 111:10 (HCSB) 10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow His instructions have good insight. His praise endures forever.
• Teach you how to live.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (ESV) 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
• Protect you from being deceived.
Colossians 2:8-9 (ESV) 8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,
• Develop your faith.
Romans 10:14-17 (ESV) 14 How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?15 And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed what he has heard from us?”17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
• Keep you from sin.
Psalm 119:11 (ESV) 11 I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
• Fill you with hope.
Romans 15:4-5 (ESV) 4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,
• Bring you joy.
Psalm 119:47 (NLT2) 47 How I delight in your commands! How I love them!
• Give you peace.
Psalm 119:165 (ESV) 165 Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble.
• Prosper your life.
Joshua 1:8 (ESV) 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
