Start with what you see—the clothes you’re wearing, the food in the fridge, the beauty of a day. Then think about the people you love and how they’ve touched your life. Next, consider what God has given you that can’t be held in your hands—things like hope, forgiveness, and your future home in heaven. Sit quietly as God brings to mind even more reasons to say thank you.
Stopping to say thanks will remind you of how big God is and how good your life is, no matter what kind of day you’re having.
Meditate on these things as you celebrate this Thanksgiving and as you are preparing for Christmas.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NLT2) 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Revelation 7:12 (NLT2) 12 They sang, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen.”
Psalm 69:30 (NLT2) 30 Then I will praise God’s name with singing, and I will honor him with thanksgiving.
Psalm 26:6-7 (NLT2) 6 I wash my hands to declare my innocence. I come to your altar, O LORD,7 singing a song of thanksgiving and telling of all your wonders.
Psalm 28:7 (NLT2) 7 The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
Psalm 95:2 (NLT2) 2 Let us come to him with thanksgiving. Let us sing psalms of praise to him.
Psalm 107:1 (NLT2) 1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.
Psalm 116:17 (NLT2) 17 I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.
Colossians 2:6-7 (NLT2) 6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him.7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT2) 6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
