Yet some people balk at that. They say, “Faith in God? Why, that is outrageous!”
Everybody has faith. We apply faith everywhere we go. For example, when you sit in a chair you apply faith that the chair will hold you and you won’t fall to the floor when you board a plane, you apply faith that the plane will take off, fly to its destination, and land. When you go to a restaurant you apply faith that the food you are served will be prepared properly and that it won’t harm you. When you go to the doctor you apply faith that they know what they are doing. When you leave your home you apply faith that you will reach your destination and return home.
You see, everybody applies faith in many, if not most things, but they have a hard time putting their faith in God, which is the safest place to apply your faith.
The very existence of your faith despite your circumstances is a proof of God.
Hebrews 11:1 NLT Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.
Faith is like a muscle. It gets stronger through use. Muscles build up when we break them down through use. However, if we don’t use our muscles, they will atrophy. The same principle is true of faith. It’s something that we need to apply. It’s something that we need to use. Faith cannot be inoperative. We must use it.
It is by faith that we are saved.
Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. [9] Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.
Having a saving faith is key because it determines our eternal destiny. Believing in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, a living person, for the forgiveness of sin and trusting Him because He provides eternal life with God.
A saving faith in Jesus Christ means that we accept Him as the Son of God, the only sacrifice that could atone for our sins. Saving faith is trusting and believing in God alone to save your soul from sin and death.
1 Peter 1:9 NLT The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls.
Saving faith is believing all that God says He is. Saving faith is believing that God can and will save you from sin and death. Saving faith is believing in the power of God to save our souls.
Saving faith is believing through faith in the salvation of God, in which God alone can save our soul from sin and death and can keep us from sin while in this world and give us eternal life in His Kingdom.
Saving faith is never alone. If you have saving faith, there will be evidence in your life.
People can tell that you have faith, but it isn’t because you say you have it. Rather, it’s because they can see your actions. They can’t see your heart, but they can see the things that you do.
God is the one who works, but He chooses to work primarily through people. And faith can make the difference between something happening and something not happening. We want to make sure we are using the faith that God has given us.
