Does God forgive all our sins? The short answer is yes, if you have accepted Jesus as your Savior — but effort is required on our part, too.
Genesis 4:6-7 NIV Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
What Is Sin?
Sin is an act that goes against a rule or law. It’s a wicked or immoral act or thought that is not in alignment with the way of the Lord. The Bible tells us sin is anything we do that is against God’s nature or that violates a command of God. It’s when we — deliberately or accidentally — go against God’s will and God’s way, and it causes a separation between us and God.
God is separate from sin. We know He is perfect, holy, and true.
Deuteronomy 32:3-4 NIV I will proclaim the name of the Lord. Oh, praise the greatness of our God! He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.
Psalms 5:4 NIV For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness; with you, evil people are not welcome.
God hates sin, because it comes between us and him, and this is not good. But the good news is that God will forgive our sins. When the Israelites were in the wilderness traveling to the Promise Land God instituted a way for then to solve the separation issue for a little while. He allowed them to sacrifice animals and do other rituals to make up for their wrongdoings. The problem was that these things had to be done repeatedly, and they never fully made up for the wrong done.
The Ultimate Solution
The sacrifice of animals and the other rituals associated with it was a temporary solution to the separation caused by sin. God wanted a permanent solution, so He sent His Son Jesus.
John 3:16-17 NIV For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
When God sent his son, Jesus, and Jesus died on the cross for us, the Bible tells us we were saved.
Galatians 1:4 NLT Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live.
All of us sin.
Romans 3:22-24 NIV This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
It's only because of Jesus are we saved.
Romans 6:23 NIV For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
By sins, he doesn’t mean some sins — he means all sin..
Even habitual sins are forgiven if the person seeking forgiveness repents authentically.
1 John 2:2 NIV He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.
God sent his only begotten son, Jesus — part of the triune God, the holy trinity — to die as the sacrifice for our sins. Jesus paid the price of our sin debt.
Yes, born-again believers do still sin.
1 John 1:8 NIV If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
When we do sin, as I said before, we sever our relationship with the Lord. However, we can renew that relationship.
1 John 1:9-10 NIV If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in us.

What About the Un-believer?
The only sins God will not forgive in this age of grace are the sins of those who die without first placing their faith in Jesus Christ. Those who do not take advantage the free gift of eternal life that God has provided through the Lord Jesus Christ. That person will be eternally separated from God and their sins will not be forgiven.
