One of the major reasons for burnout is stress. We put too much pressure on ourselves. We believe that we must get everything done today, and that it must be done our way. When we put that kind of pressure on ourselves, and we can't get things done then we stress out. Too much stress and then we burn out. When we burn out, we are of no use to ourselves or anyone else. The best way to relieve stress is to delegate it, without sounding condescending, to God. You feel comfortable in delegating something to someone else when you have confidence that they will accomplish the task. If we say that we have faith in God and trust Him, we have confidence in him. We all can quote the scripture that nothing is impossible for God. What if that's the case then let him do it. We've seen the bumper sticker to let God Drive. Let Him drive and let Him relieve the stress. and when we turn the wheel over to Him, we should not be back seat drivers either. Just let him take us to the places that he wants us to go.
Proverbs 3:5-6 CEV With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgment. Always let him lead you, and he will clear the road for you to follow.
Admit it, you can’t do everything.
Ecclesiastes 10:15 CEV Fools wear themselves out— they don't know enough to find their way home
When our heart is overwhelmed with the cares of this life, we must take the time to cast them upon the Lord.
1 Peter 5:6-7 NIV Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
God alone is is our protection and refuge against the chaos of this life. Jesus Christ, our rock, is our firm foundation when the ground beneath our feet feels shaky. We can run to Him for safety and trust that He will be our fortress during the storms of life.
Psalms 61:1-3 NIV Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
Father,
I am stressed out and overwhelmed. I cry out to You knowing that you care for me and that You do not want me to find safety in anything else but You. I run to You and look to You to bring a peace that passes all understanding for You are my fortress and protection against the storms of life. Thank You, Jesus, that You are a firm foundation. Amid chaos and troubles, You are constant and You are unshakable. I do not build my life upon sinking sand, but You, my rock, and my redeemer. Thank You for being near to me when I am worried or afraid. I can always lean upon You and trust that You are always working things out for Your glory and for my good. In the name of Jesus Amen
