Change your focus from a horizontal one where you look to people and things to a vertical one where you focus on God. When you lean on another person or thing, your focus is sideways, horizontal not vertical. You find yourself constantly looking at that other person or relying on that thing. Dark days call for right thinking and vertical focus. When your focus changes you can concentrate on these truths about God.
God sees everything you’re going through.
Psalms 33:18-19 MSG Watch this: God’s eye is on those who respect him, the ones who are looking for his love. He’s ready to come to their rescue in bad times; in lean times he keeps body and soul together.
God cares about everything you’re going through.
Micah 7:7 MSG But me, I’m not giving up. I’m sticking around to see what God will do. I’m waiting for God to make things right. I’m counting on God to listen to me.
God has the power to change what you’re going through.
Matthew 7:7-11 MSG “Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This isn’t a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. If your child asks for bread, do you trick him with sawdust? If he asks for fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate? As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing. You’re at least decent to your own children. So don’t you think the God who conceived you in love will be even better?
God always acts out of his goodness to you.
Romans 8:28 CEV We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him. They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose,
God's plan is always better than your plan.
Jeremiah 29:11 CEV I will bless you with a future filled with hope—a future of success, not of suffering.
God will never stop loving you.
Isaiah 54:10 NLT For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you.
Once you have put your trust in Jesus Christ, you cannot lose your salvation.
2 Timothy 1:12 NLT That is why I am suffering here in prison. But I am not ashamed of it, for I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return.
No matter what you go through, God is with you.
Isaiah 43:2 NLT When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.
So, replace your panic with prayer, your worry with worship, and your anxiety with adoration. Change your focus from horizontal to vertical.
