A Cry For Relief
Psalm 6:1-10 NIV Lord , do not rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your wrath. Have mercy on me, Lord , for I am faint; heal me, Lord , for my bones are in agony. My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord , how long? Turn, Lord , and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love. Among the dead no one proclaims your name. Who praises you from the grave? I am worn out from my groaning. All night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears. My eyes grow weak with sorrow; they fail because of all my foes. Away from me, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping. The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer. All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish; they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.
When you feel that your life is falling apart, you’re discouraged, confused and in trouble, when you're helpless and everything seems hopeless, don’t give up. It may not be an illness, it could be the end of a relationship, an eroding marriage, financial distress, a church hurt. It may be the result of your sin, or somebody else’s sin. It may be the result of living in a fallen world. No matter what the struggle, it causes groaning, tears, and grief. When you find yourself in these circumstances pray the words of Psalm 6. God has not left you alone.
Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Jeremiah 29:11-12 NIV For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord , “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.
God cares for us when we are hurting, so cry out to Him and allow Him to give you His peace
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
