In His prayer David asks for strength to overcome temptation. He asks God for the power to guard his tongue, to keep him pure, and to keep him from taking part in the things, and pleasures of the wicked. He is certain that God will continue to strengthen him. He is also certain that God will turn the plan of the wicked back on them and they will fall into their own traps.
In order to apply this Psalm to us today we must change our perspective in times of adversity from our view to t God’s perspective. We should seek the Lord on and depend on Him to deliver us. We need not fear the because we know that God is good, that He loves us, and that He will never leave or forsake us.
Psalm 119:68 (NIV) You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees.
John 3:16 (NIV) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV )Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Protection From Sin And Sinners
Psalm 141:1-10 (NIV) I call to you, Lord , come quickly to me; hear me when I call to you. May my prayer be set before you like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. Set a guard over my mouth, Lord ; keep watch over the door of my lips. Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies. Let a righteous man strike me—that is a kindness; let him rebuke me—that is oil on my head. My head will not refuse it, for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers. Their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs, and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken. They will say, “As one plows and breaks up the earth, so our bones have been scattered at the mouth of the grave.” But my eyes are fixed on you, Sovereign Lord ; in you I take refuge—do not give me over to death. Keep me safe from the traps set by evildoers, from the snares they have laid for me. Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by in safety.
