Psalms 128:1-6 NKJV Blessed is every one who fears the Lord , Who walks in His ways. When you eat the labor of your hands, You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you. Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house, Your children like olive plants All around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed Who fears the Lord . The Lord bless you out of Zion, And may you see the good of Jerusalem All the days of your life. Yes, may you see your children’s children. Peace be upon Israel!
The Virtue Of God’s Blessings
Psalm 128 can be classified as a wisdom psalm, expressing a truth about life. The truth in this psalm is that there are blessings for those who fear (reverential respect) God.
The writer starts by saying that the person who has learned to walk in the ways of the Lord is a happy person. The family is prosperous as a result of their work. They are content, prosperous, full of joy., and will attain long life. The result of these blessings is the peace of the nation.
For Us Today
It is a family psalm, a song for a marriage, or a birth, or for any day in which a happy household has met to praise the Lord. Perhaps in no country can it be better understood than in the United States, for we above all nations delight in the saying "Home, sweet home."
