The Christian life itself is a continuous process of trying to get our lives to pattern that of Christ.
Jesus is the most unforgettable person ever because He always existed, He being God became flesh, assumed a human nature and became a man, He was always relaxed, and He has been exalted.

Philippians 2:8 ESV And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Introduction
Do any of you remember Reader’s Digest? It used to carry a regular feature called “The Most Unforgettable Character I Have Met.” Sometimes these characters were world-famous people, like those in Richard’s book “An Extraordinary Life”; at other times they were known by few outside their own family. But they all had something in common—for some reason they could not be forgotten they were unforgettable themselves or they had done something that was unforgettable.
The testimony of every Christian should be “The most unforgettable person I have ever met is the Lord Jesus Christ.” Every salvation experience is the experience of meeting Christ and giving one’s life to him. The Christian life itself is a continuous process of trying to get our lives to pattern that of Christ.
If Jesus is that important to us, we need to know all we can about him. If His life has so radically changed ours, when he saved us we ought to be intimately familiar with His life.
Because when He saved us we become new creatures.
Remember?
2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
The Scripture that we read from Philippians chapter 2 give us a few things about Jesus that make Him unforgettable.
Philippians 2:6-8 ESV who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
I. Christ is the most unforgettable person because He always existed (vv. 5–6).
Philippians 2:5-6 (ESV)5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
This essentially says that Jesus is God. Which means that He existed before he was born at Bethlehem. This is a mystery of faith. We cannot explain how Christ existed as God before he was born to a virgin in Bethlehem, but we know that He did;
John 1:1-3 ESV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.
The manner of his preexistence. He had the deity of God and was equal to the Father God. He shared in the glory of God yet was willing to give it up to become a man. He set aside the glory He had in heaven but He did that without giving up his divine attributes.
He was willing to renounce his rights, privileges, prerogatives, and claims for our sake in order to bring us to salvation.
Matthew 20:25-28 ESV But Jesus called them to him and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles Lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
II. That's the second reason that Christ is the most unforgettable person you’ve ever met because He being God became flesh, assumed a human nature and became a man.
Philippians 2:7-8 (ESV)7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Jesus emptied himself of the glories of deity and clothed himself in flesh; he became a man. In relation to God he became a servant. He suffered and was tempted and anguished just like any other human and overcame them all.
We talked about that last week when we said that Jesus was the world's strongest person.
By becoming a human, Jesus could have a sympathetic heart for people. He could know human problems firsthand. But was all about obedience. The kind of obedience that led even to the cross. We can see the extent of God’s love when we see the extent of Christ’s obedience.
John 12:49 ESV For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment—what to say and what to speak.
John 14:30-31 ESV I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me, but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Rise, let us go from here.
Hebrews 5:8 ESV Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered.
We were in sin, and something had to be done for us. That something was done in Christ’s death for us.
If a person jumped in the ocean and swam out to another person when nothing was wrong, it would be silly. But if someone was drowning and another person jumped in, swam to them, and rescued them, it would be an act of love. That is what Jesus did for us.
Although our scripture in Philippians doesn't specifically indicate it I say that Christ is unforgettable because He was able to stay relaxed in situations that would have freaked out the average person.
He was relaxed when he walked through a mob that was trying to kill him.
Luke 4:20-30 ESV And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him. And he began to say to them, "Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing." And all spoke well of him and marveled at the gracious words that were coming from his mouth. And they said, "Is not this Joseph's son?" And he said to them, "Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, '"Physician, heal yourself." What we have heard you did at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well.'" And he said, "Truly, I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown. But in truth, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heavens were shut up three years and six months, and a great famine came over all the land, and Elijah was sent to none of them but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian." When they heard these things, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath. And they rose up and drove him out of the town and brought him to the brow of the hill on which their town was built, so that they could throw him down the cliff. But passing through their midst, he went away.
He didn't get excited. He didn't panic. He just passed through their midst and left.
He was relaxed and unhurried when others were pressuring him to be somewhere fast.
John 11:1-6 ESV Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was ill. So the sisters sent to him, saying, "Lord, he whom you love is ill." But when Jesus heard it he said, "This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it." Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.
He also took naps! He took a nap in a storm while the disciples were totally losing their minds from fear. Now that's really relaxed.
Matthew 8:23-27 ESV And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him, saying, "Save us, Lord; we are perishing." And he said to them, "Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?" Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. And the men marveled, saying, "What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?"
Even before Jesus famously turned over the tables of the money changers in the temple, he took time to braid a whip
John 2:13-15 ESV The Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple he found those who were selling oxen and sheep and pigeons, and the money-changers sitting there. And making a whip of cords, he drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and oxen. And he poured out the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables.
My point is that Jesus was and is always relaxed. He’s our role model for a relaxed mind. When we put on the mind of Christ, we also take on his characteristics of peace, tranquility, assurance, and grace. When we have a relaxed mind, we take on more than a good feeling. We have clearer vision because we are able to step back and see what is happening without feeling rattled or impulsive.
1 Corinthians 2:14-16 ESV The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. "For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ.
When we have the mind of Christ we can relax because we can think like Him. Because our mind has been renewed.
Romans 12:1-2 ESV I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
With a renewed mind then we can relax and;
Philippians 4:8 ESV Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
You have every reason to relax because God cares for you, he loves you, and he will get you through whatever you’re facing. God cares about the things you’re worried about. He cares about your anxiety. . . .
1 Peter 5:6-7 ESV Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
Though we can’t see it, God knows what we need and will help us when we need him. He loves us! God loves birds and he loves his creation, but he loves you most of all.
Matthew 6:25-33 ESV "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not be anxious, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
We don’t have to spend every day wondering if we are attractive enough, successful enough, or even whether he will meet our needs, because he will.
Matthew 6:34 ESV. "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
So relax God's got it.
Philippians 2:9-10 (ESV)9 Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
He was exalted because of what it said in our Scripture;
Through His death on the cross He redeemed mankind.
Galatians 3:13-14 ESV Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree"— so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
Galatians 4:4-7 ESV But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.
The word redeem means “to buy out.” The term was used specifically in reference to the purchase of a slave’s freedom. If we are “redeemed,” then our prior condition was one of slavery.
Romans 6:20, 22-23 ESV For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Jesus’ has purchased our freedom, and we are no longer in bondage to sin. He paid the price for our release from sin and its punishment.
1 Timothy 2:5-6 ESV For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.
Scripture is quite clear that redemption is only possible through the blood of Jesus.
Colossians 1:13-14 ESV He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
He has redeemed us and He wants to be Lord in every area of your life.
Lord of your conduct.
Jesus wants His desires and His will to rule over your actions, your words and feelings—your very character.
Lord of your relationships.
Jesus wants to preside over your dating relationship or how you treat your spouse. He wants to rule over the way you parent. Jesus wants to be Lord over every interaction with business associates. All your relationships should yield to His rule.
Lord of your time.
What should you do with your available time? How should you invest your life? If you want to live a life of purpose, you need to be about more than just flipping pages on the calendar. Jesus wants His priorities to be yours.
Lord of your talents.
When you become a Christian, you are given some unique gifts; they are supernatural abilities intended to build God’s kingdom. Jesus wants to be Lord of the talents He gave you—whether those are gifts of music, teaching, mercy, helping, etc. Jesus wants to rule over how you invest those gifts in His kingdom.
Lord of your treasure.
According to Christ, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”. Jesus doesn’t care about your material resources. He cares about how you use them. When you surrender all you have to the lordship of Jesus, He gives it back so you can use it for Him. And He wants you to experience the joy in that.
Conclusion
The most unforgettable person ever is Jesus Christ, because He always existed, He being God became flesh, assumed a human nature and became a man, He was always relaxed, and He has been exalted. If Jesus isn't the most unforgettable person you've ever met He can be as you make him Lord of your life.
Romans 10:8-10 ESV But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, th ae word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
