Deuteronomy 30:19 NLT Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!
This isn't just about today; it's about eternity.
What road are you on right now? Are you chasing after personal desires, fleeting pleasures, or elusive happiness? If so, you might be heading for a dead end. No one understood this better than King Solomon, a man of immense wealth who indulged in every earthly pleasure imaginable. Yet, after it all, he concluded.
Ecclesiastes 2:11 NLT But as I looked at everything I had worked so hard to accomplish, it was all so meaningless—like chasing the wind. There was nothing really worthwhile anywhere.
Living for happiness or pleasure alone will always leave you grasping for more, never truly satisfied.
A Path to True Purpose
There's a different path, one that offers true purpose and meaning. If you choose to follow Jesus Christ, you gain the absolute assurance of life beyond the grave—life in His presence, a reality more glorious than you can possibly imagine.
Beyond eternity, walking with Christ also brings a full, rich life here on earth. The alternative? A life without true purpose, where you face the consequences of sin and, ultimately, a certain judgment. My encouragement to you today is simple: Choose life.
Help Others Find the Way
If you've already made that choice and received Christ as your Savior and Lord, you're perfectly positioned to help others do the same. How? By living the "rich and satisfying life" that Jesus makes possible.
John 10:10 NLT The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
Your real citizenship is in heaven.
Philippians 3:20 NLT But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior.
As citizens of heaven, we should live like it.
Philippians 1:27 NLT Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.
Let Christ shine through you—in how you treat people, what you prioritize, your actions, your words, and the joy that fills your days. Show them that this same abundant life is available to them too.
It's Never Too Late to Return
Perhaps you chose life in the past but have since drifted from that path. Remember this: The Lord hasn't given up on you. He's ready to forgive and restore you. You can still experience the vibrant life He offers. Just like the prodigal son was welcomed home by his father, your heavenly Father eagerly awaits your return. All it takes is turning away from your sin and asking Him for restoration. It's truly never too late to get back on the right road.
1 John 1:8-10 NLT [8] If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. [9] But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. [10] If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts.
