Think about it; everything we see, both tangible and intangible, in this universe was created by God. He is the origin of every good thing that has ever been or ever will be. When we truly depend on God as our source, we can hold on to these critical truths.
First, everything is a gift from God.
Think about what you have. Your talents, your opportunities, your possessions – none of it was earned in isolation. They are all a manifestation of God's grace.
James 1:17 NIV Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
Even our daily sustenance is a gift.
Matthew 6:11 NIV Give us today our daily bread.
We can't earn it; it is freely given.
Second, there’s nothing you need that God can’t provide.
We often worry about the uncertainties of the future, the unknown needs that lie ahead. But our finite understanding cannot comprehend the infinite resources of our Creator. God assures us that He will meet our needs.
Philippians 4:19 NIV And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (emphasis mine)
The phrase "riches of his glory" speaks to a provision beyond our wildest imaginations, a lavishness that only God can offer.
Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV [20] Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, [21] to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. (emphasis mine)
Third, God wants to give you everything you need.
If you are a parent you understand the desire to provide good things for your children. Jesus uses this very human instinct to illustrate God's even greater love and willingness to care for us.
Matthew 7:11 NIV If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
God, our perfect Father, knows our needs even before we express them, and He is eager to provide abundantly, exceeding our expectations.
The fourth, often most challenging truth is that God is waiting on you.
If there are unfulfilled needs in your life, maybe you haven’t asked. Our Father God the very Creator of the universe, is waiting for us to bring our needs to Him.
James 4:2 NLT You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. (emphasis mine)
So go ahead and ask your heavenly Father for whatever you need, big or small. Open yourself to His provision and witness the incredible things He will do in your life. He is the source, and He is waiting to bless you.
