The Bedrock of our Walk
At the heart of a life aligned with God's will is a single, transformative verse that serves as both a challenge and a promise:
Hebrews 11:6 HCSB Now without faith it is impossible to please God, for the one who draws near to Him must believe that He exists and rewards those who seek Him.
This isn't just a suggestion; it’s a spiritual reality. Trusting God "in all things" isn't about ignoring our circumstances, but about acknowledging a higher authority over them. Faith is the bridge between our current reality and the unseen hand of the Creator.
Why Trusting God in "All Things" is Difficult
We often find it easy to trust God with the "big things"—our eternity or the creation of the universe—but we struggle with the "daily things." Will He provide for this specific bill? Does He care about my strained relationship? Does He see my career frustration?
True faith requires a continuous process of self-reflection. It asks us to surrender our need for control and replace it with an openness to His guidance, even when that guidance leads us through a valley rather than around it.
Trusting God isn't a "one-and-done" decision we make at an altar. It is a daily, sometimes hourly, realignment of our priorities. When we face trials, our natural instinct is to grab the steering wheel. Yet, Scripture encourages a different path:
- Surrendering the Narrative:
Proverbs 3:5-6 HCSB [5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; [6] think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.
When we stop leaning on our limited "understanding," we make room for His infinite wisdom.
- Finding Peace in the Unknown:
Philippians 4:6-7 HCSB [[6] Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. [7] And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Through prayer and petition, we can access a peace that "transcends all understanding.
On God’s Sovereignty:
Romans 8:28-29 HCSB [28] We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose. [29] For those He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.
When we align our will with His, we begin to see that even the "detours" in our lives are part of a divine design.
The Reward of the Seeker
We see that God is a "rewarder of those who earnestly seek Him." This reward isn't always a material blessing or a quick fix to our problems. Often, the greatest reward is His presence. When we align our priorities with His will, we find a strength that isn't our own. We discover that trusting God isn't a one-time decision we made years ago; it is a daily, sometimes hourly, choice to believe that He is who He says He is.
If you find yourself in a season of uncertainty today, take heart. Maintaining a strong foundation in faith is a marathon, not a sprint. It requires regular self-reflection and a constant openness to guidance.
Remember these truths today:
- God sees the full picture while we only see a single frame.
- Faith pleases Him more than our perfection ever could.
- He is faithful to complete the work He started in you
Philippians 1:6 HCSB I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Let your prayer today be one of surrender: "Lord, I believe that You exist, and I believe You are working for my good. Help me to seek You earnestly in the quiet moments and the storms alike."
