Phase 1: The Beginning (Foundational Learning)This stage begins immediately after salvation. The focus is on orientation and developing a posture of humility.
- Requirements: None. Acceptance is based on grace, not merit or prior religious knowledge.
- Core Activities: Establishing basic disciplines such as regular Bible study, prayer, and integration into a faith community.
- The Objective: To learn the "language" of the Spirit and identify personal areas or habits that need to be cleared away to make room for growth.
- Key Scripture: “Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am humble and gentle in heart...” (Matthew 11:29)
Phase 2: The Development (Discipline and Practice)In this stage, the believer moves from being a passive observer to an active participant. This is often the most difficult phase because it requires consistent discipline and a willingness to be corrected.
- Requirements: Resilience and a shift in priorities.
- Core Activities: Practicing spiritual habits during trials, learning to rely on the Spirit's power rather than personal willpower, and applying biblical principles to daily decision-making.
- The Objective: To develop "spiritual muscle memory"—the ability to instinctively turn to God and maintain consistency even when the process is repetitive or difficult.
- Key Scripture: “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who... correctly handles the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)
Phase 3: Maturity (Leadership and Service)This stage is characterized by spiritual stability and a shift in focus from personal growth to the growth of others. While no believer reaches "perfection," this phase represents a level of reliability and proven character.
- Requirements: Long-term endurance and a track record of faithfulness through various seasons of life.
- Core Activities: Mentoring newer believers, modeling a consistent life of faith, and contributing to the health of the broader church community.
- The Objective: To ensure a legacy of faith by guiding others through their own processes of sanctification.
- Key Scripture: “Therefore... stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord...” (1 Corinthians 15:58)
