- Proverbs 15:3 NKJV] The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good.
God's omnipresence and omniscience are two of His most profound attributes. They are central to our understanding of His nature and His relationship with humanity. These attributes demonstrate God's infinite power, love, and sovereignty.
Omnipresence: God is Everywhere
The concept of God's omnipresence means that He is present everywhere all the time.
- Psalm 139:7-10 NKJV "Where can I go from your Spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? If I ascend to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand will lead me, and your right hand will hold me fast."
- Jeremiah 23:23-24 NKJV "Am I only a God who is near," declares the LORD, "and not a God who is far off also? Can anyone hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him?" declares the LORD. "Do not I fill heaven and earth?" declares the LORD."
God's omnipresence means that his power and knowledge extend to all parts of his creation, and that he is present everywhere because he made it all. God's omnipresence means that He is always with us, no matter what’s going on in our lives. He’s there in the good times and He’s there at our darkest moments. Because He’s with us His presence provides comfort, hope, and security.
Omniscience: God Knows All
God's omniscience means that He knows everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen. His knowledge is infinite and all-encompassing.
- Psalm 147:5 NKJV "Great is our Lord, and mighty is His power; His understanding is infinite."
- Hebrews 4:13 NKJV "And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do."
God's omniscience demonstrates His sovereignty and His control over all things. It also highlights the importance of living a life that is pleasing to Him. God's omniscience means that he is the ultimate standard of truth and falsity, and his ideas are always true
Realizing that God knows everything about everyone, including you, can be either frightening or encouraging, depending on your relationship with God (or lack thereof). If your life is right with God and you are walking with Him, then knowing that God is aware of what’s going on in your existence is a comforting thought.
- Psalms 139:1-6 NKJV O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether. You have hedged me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. ] Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is high, I cannot attain it.
We don’t want to be forgotten; we want to be loved. We want to be appreciated and remembered. We don’t want to be another face in a massive human sea. It’s comforting to know that God cares about us, that He knows about us. Maybe someone made fun of you, left you out, or misunderstood you. Maybe someone lied about you or hurt someone you loved. God is aware of that. He cares about you.
- Psalms 56:8 NKJV You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?
The omnipresence and omniscience of God are fundamental to our understanding of His nature and His relationship with humanity. These attributes reveal His infinite power, love, and sovereignty. By meditating on these truths, we can grow closer to God and experience the peace and security that comes from knowing that He is always with us and aware of everything. God is always present, watching over us, and aware of our thoughts, feelings, and actions. As we contemplate these attributes, we are filled with awe and reverence for our Creator and Savior.
