The truth is, as believers, our ultimate employer is God Himself. When we understand this, the sting of criticism from others begins to fade. Their opinions, while sometimes well-intentioned, are ultimately irrelevant when compared to the divine mandate on our lives. We are called to walk in obedience to Him, not to endlessly debate or appease those who may not understand our path.
Think about the apostles. Did they stop preaching the gospel because of the threats and criticisms they faced? No! Their mission was clear, and their focus was squarely on pleasing God, not men.
Acts 5:27-32 NIV The apostles were brought in and made to appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.” Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings! The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead—whom you killed by hanging him on a cross. God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might bring Israel to repentance and forgive their sins. We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.” (emphasis mine)
When God calls you to do something, He doesn't just leave you to your own devices. He equips you. He provides. He opens doors, makes a way where there seems to be no way, and gives you the strength and resources to accomplish His will. Our job is simply to be faithful and obedient.
If God has given you a task, He will absolutely provide everything you need to complete it. Whether it's wisdom, financial resources, courage, or the right connections, He is faithful to His word.
Philippians 4:19 NIV And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
This isn't just a feel-good verse; it's a profound promise.
So, the next time the critics start to whisper, or the fear of disapproval tries to hold you back, remember who you're truly working for. Fix your eyes on God, pursue His will with all your heart, and trust that He will provide. Don't fight the critics; simply do what God wants you to do. Your reward, and your provision, come from Him alone.
