This 4th of July isn’t just any Independence Day—it’s actually the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. A quarter of a millennium! That is a massive milestone. But if we’re being completely honest with each other, it’s hard to ignore the elephant in the room.
While we’re celebrating our history, our present feels pretty heavy. It seems like everywhere you look, there’s division, angry arguments, and a lot of plain old disunity. It’s exhausting, isn't it? For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you bite and devour one another, beware lest you be consumed by one another! (emphasis mine)
If we keep biting and devouring each other with angry words and division, nobody wins. It’s time to actively choose a different path and chase after God's peace instead.
