The Bible reminds us that God is sovereign, loving, and faithful. He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
Revelation 22:13 NIV I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
He has a plan to prosper us, not to harm us, and to give us hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
God has a divine and benevolent plan for His people. Despite your current circumstances, He intends to prosper you, not harm you, and to give you a hopeful future. Even in the darkest of times, God promises a brighter future. It's important to remember that God's plan doesn't always align with our expectations. It may involve challenges and trials. However, the promise of a hopeful future remains steadfast.
In Romans it says that no matter what happens God will make it turn out good for you if you love Him.
Romans 8:28-30 NIV [28] And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. [29] For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. [30] And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
This is a powerful declaration of God’s sovereignty and His ultimate good for His children. This is not a promise of an absence of suffering but it is a promise that God will use even the most difficult circumstances for our good.
God's plan is not a reaction to our circumstances but a predetermined path that leads us to His glory. It's a plan that takes into account every detail, every struggle, and every triumph. We can trust that God is working everything out for our good, even when we can't see the way ahead.
In uncertain times, we can be confident that:
- God is in control
Psalms 46:1-3 NIV God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. [2] Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, [3] though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
- God has a purpose for our lives
Ephesians 2:8-10 NI [8] For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— [9] not by works, so that no one can boast. [10] For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
- God will complete the work He started in us.
Philippians 1:6 NIV being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
As you navigate life's challenges, hold onto these truths and find comfort in God's presence. You can declare with confidence, "I know that You are working everything out for my good, Lord. I trust in Your perfect plan."
I want to share a prayer that was written by Keri Eichberger for those times of uncertainty.
Perfect Lord God, You have given me gifts, abilities, callings, and desires. You have led me and never let me down. And I am so thankful for your continual guidance. But for some reason, I become confused in the midst of so many crossroads of choices and all the distracting worldly voices and begin to wonder where you’re leading and if it’s truly what’s best for me. I want to be 100% confident that I am where you want me. I want to be reminded that you have thoroughly known me and everything about me and chose the masterpiece of my future before I was even conceived. How wonderful. How purposeful. How perfect. Lord, allow my confidence to grow today in the purpose of today even when the boat of life is rocking, may I not be shaken, but remain sturdy on your good promises. That you love me, you are with me, and are crafting something beautiful with every day of my life.
