But as believers, we are called to a different perspective. We aren't called to ignore the reality of the world, but to filter it through the truth of the One who created it.
Why We Aren’t Shaken
The reason we can remain steady isn’t because we have all the answers or because we can see the "finish line" of our current trials. It’s because our trust is placed in the Sovereign God who stands above the chaos.
When the world feels like shifting sand, God’s Word is the bedrock. We can breathe deeply and find peace because we know that even when things feel out of control to us, they are never out of His hands. Our foundation isn't built on favorable circumstances; it's built on His character.
What the Scriptures Say
When the noise of the world gets too loud, these truths act as an anchor for the soul:
Psalms 112:7 NIV They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
Psalms 62:6 NIV Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
John 16:33 NIV “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
A Continuous Process of Trust
Trusting God is not a one-time "quick fix" for anxiety. It is a continuous process of self-reflection and daily surrender. It requires us to intentionally turn off the noise of the world so we can hear the whisper of the Spirit.
When you feel your heart beginning to race at a headline or a sudden change in circumstances, remember that God is not surprised by what surprises us. He is in control even when He is silent. He is working even when we cannot see the progress.
Today, let’s choose to look upward rather than outward. Our world may be shaking, but our God is an immovable Rock.
A Closing Prayer for Peace
Heavenly Father,
We come before You today with hearts that sometimes feel heavy from the weight of the world around us. Lord, we admit that the headlines can feel loud and the future can look uncertain. In those moments when fear tries to take root, remind us of who You are.
We thank You that You are not surprised by the state of the world. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, and nothing happens outside of Your sovereign care. Help us to quiet the noise of the world so that we can hear Your still, small voice. Strengthen our foundation in You, and help us to align our priorities with Your will every single day.
Give us a peace that surpasses all understanding. When the news is bad, let our hearts remain steadfast, trusting in You. We choose to place our hope not in what we see, but in the One who is in control of it all.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
