We live in a world where a well-known psychological phenomenon plays out every single day: if you repeat a lie often enough, people begin to accept it as the truth. Humans are naturally wired to lean toward the first thing they hear, or the message that is blasted on repeat. Because of this, the voices we allow to speak into our lives don't just entertain us—they shape us.
If we aren't careful, the constant noise of the world will slowly erode our foundation of faith.
The Rise of the ScoffersThis isn't a new problem. The Apostle Peter warned the early church about this exact battle for the mind.
2 Peter 3:3-4 NIV Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.”
When Peter penned those words, it had only been about 30 years since Jesus ascended, yet people were already impatient and cynical. Today, two millennia later, the church faces the exact same mockery. The world repeats the lie that God has forgotten us, that faith is foolish, and that the promises of Scripture are empty.
But we know better. We hold fast to the promise Jesus because God does not break His word.
John 14:1-3 NIV “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God ; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Numbers 23:19 NIV God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

How do we combat a culture that continuously repeats lies? We don't do it by arguing louder; we do it by tuning into the real source of truth. Here’s the response to the world’s skepticism.
2 Peter 3:1-2 NIV Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking. I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your

The remedy is simple but demanding: we must saturate our minds in Scripture. When the world repeats its doubts we must repeat God's Word more intensely. Jesus prayed that we be sanctified by God’s word.
John 17:17 NIV Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
To be sanctified means to be set apart and made holy—and that transformation happens through the truth of God's voice.
Standing Under the WordGod’s Word is powerful, life-giving, authoritative, and completely true. It is entirely worthy of our careful study and deep obedience. But there is a massive difference between understanding the Bible and choosing to stand under it.
To stand under the Word means we step beneath its authority. We stop trying to bend the Bible to fit our cultural moment or our personal preferences. Instead, we let the Bible break, shape, and remold our beliefs, thoughts, and actions.
James 1:19-25 NIV My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do. (emphasis mine)
When Jesus faced Satan's lies in the wilderness, He didn't rely on human wisdom.
Matthew 4:1-4 NIV Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” (emphasis mine)
