From that rock you're able to see things from God's perspective. We must realize how small we are and how big God is; how short our time of existence is compared to eternity?

We tend to rely on our own sufficiency and our own issues. From the vantage point of that high rock, we can see how small we are in the universe and how big God is and we can turn all of the cares that overwhelm us to the One who can take us through them.
Psalm 55:22 NIV Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
1 Peter 5:7 NIV Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Things just keep piling up. Your boss keeps giving you assignments before you finish the one, he/she gave you yesterday. Your work email inbox keeps growing by leaps. and bounds. It never seems to end.
Your loved one is in the hospital. Your spouse needs you, your children need you, you church needs you. You think "I either need to be cloned, counseled, or "caught up in the air with the Lord.
You feel stressed. Guilty. Inadequate. Overwhelmed!
We become overwhelmed for all sorts of reasons, but instead of running away and hiding, God wants us to run to Him. He wants us to run to His Word which settles us and shelters us.
Psalms 119:105 NIV Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
Sometimes we can’t change all the stuff in our lives that feels bigger than we can handle. But whatever feels bigger than you is still puny compared to the Rock that is higher than you!

Here’s just one verse that helps when you are overwhelmed.
Psalms 46:1 NIV God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Running to God as your refuge isn’t an escape for what’s happening around you. God is your refuge when overwhelming circumstances pile up around you. Remember that your strength to stand in overwhelming situations is not in you, your stamina or drive. Your strength comes from the Lord.
When you are sheltered in the truth of His Word. and in His presence, all the stress that overwhelmed you somehow suddenly shrinks down and becomes manageable. God’s Word gives you the perspective you need. God’s presence gives you the peace you need.
Philippians 4:6-7 NIV Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Here’s a prayer for those times when things keep piling up and there’s no relief in sight and you find yourself becoming overwhelmed.
Lord, I’m overwhelmed, because of . I ask that you overwhelm me with Your peace. Lead me to You, my rock. Guide me to Your Word which gives me strength and refuge. Help me not to run a self-help book, or another person. Draw me to run to You first. Help me get into the habit of taking whatever is going on in my life and placing it under your will. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
