"God only uses imperfect, broken people. If God only used perfect people, nothing would get done because perfect people don’t exist! If you’re willing to be used by God, he will use you. No matter what you’ve done in the past, your mission hasn’t changed."
It is a common misconception that we need to "clean ourselves up" before we can be of any use to the Kingdom of God. We often wait until we’ve overcome every habit, resolved every doubt, or hidden every scar before we step out in faith. But the Bible tells a different story. If God waited for perfection, the pages of Scripture would be blank.
The heroes of our faith were deeply flawed. Abraham was impatient, Moses had a temper, and Peter was impulsive. Yet, God didn’t just use them despite their brokenness—He used their restoration as the very platform for His glory. Our imperfections don't limit God; they are where His strength is most visible.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 NIV [9] But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. [10] That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. (emphasis mine)
When we feel "too broken" to matter, we must remember that God is drawn to our pain, not repelled by it. He doesn't discard the shattered vessel; He gathers the pieces.
Psalms 34:18 NIV The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Your past might be messy, and your present might feel fragile, but your mission is still active. Nothing you have done can cancel the call He has placed on your life.
Romans 8:28-30 NIV [28] And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. [29] For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. [30] And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. (emphasis mine)
As you move forward, be confident that God is the one doing the heavy lifting. God isn’t looking for your ability; He is looking for your availability.
Philippians 1:6 CEV [6] God is the one who began this good work in you, and I am certain that he won't stop before it is complete on the day that Christ Jesus returns.
If you are willing, He is more than able.
