Psalm 131:1-3 NIV My heart is not proud, Lord , my eyes are not haughty; I do not concern myself with great matters or things too wonderful for me. But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. Israel, put your hope in the Lord both now and forevermore.
A Spirit Of Humility
In this short psalm the writer, David, expresses a sincere sense of humility. He is free from a prideful attitude and unchecked ambition. He has been able to compose himself so much that he depends on God like a child that is no longer crying to nurse but satisfied to just sit in his mother’s lap.
He ends by encouraging others to trust God so that they can have this same peace.
